Yesterday, I'm not really sure how we got on the topic but he was saying he really wished we could go to a Zoo that had a gorilla. (We typically go to small local zoo that has a small selection of animals.) When I said that there is a zoo close enough that we could see gorilla I thought he might explode. He then asked if we could go the first Saturday it's open. I told him we'd have to see, that it would depend on what we have going and also if we have the money because that zoo is NOT cheap. So he said he'd raise the money to be able to go. First he wanted to have a garage sale, but he either wanted to go to the store and buy new stuff to sell or sell MY stuff. When I suggested that he could sell some of HIS stuff if he wanted to make money from a garage sale...he came up with a new idea. He's going to sell his art work to make money. He even found some sticky notes and began making some price tags. His first was 2.99. That sounded reasonable, but then today he made some that were MUCH pricier! @@ THEN he said he was going to sell one for 100,000 then he'd have enough money for the Star Wars Lego thing he wants and lots of other stuff. When I told him that it is entirely possible for a well known, sought after artist to sell art for this much he got a little twinkle in his eye. Then he told me I better get rich really quick so that I'd be able to buy some of his stuff. When I told him I thought a "good" son would give his mom a deal, he told me he'd give me 5 free and then after that I could get them for 2.03.
But I did tell him I would look for some inexpensive frames and we will be letting him sell them....somewhere. If you're in the market for some high quality 6 year old art work, just let me know! Photos to come soon...

Too funny...gotta love an entrepreneurial young mind!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'm not in the market for any new art work but I'd love to see pictures anyway. And not that I think of it, I'll have my own 6 year old masterpieces in a couple of years!
Photos are a must! I look forward to seeing them. Your whole conversation was just too cute!
ReplyDeleteNow that is cute. He has the right idea.

ReplyDeleteI want photos! I'm always in the market for good art. :D My boys won't even draw bad art. LOL
ReplyDeleteVery funny. I've seen some artist that priced their stuff that high, but I would rather give the $2.03 to your son for his work.
ReplyDeleteI was about his age when this art thing became my reality. Keep encouarging him. How knows - he may sell something for a $100,000 some day. Won't we all be surprised. Maybe not his grandparents though.
Thanks for entering my giveaway. Good luck and stay tooned.
