Working Mommy Wednesdays 1-20-10

Julia from SweetasPunkinPie hosts a weekly blog carnival for moms which I'm particularly partial to as a working mom!! Stop by here blog and join in the fun!

This week's question:
As a working mom, if you suddenly became a SAHM, how do you think your life would be different?
As a SAHM, if you suddenly had to become a working mom, how would your life be different?

Although I have been a working mom for MOST of my 7 years as a mom, I did have the opportunity to stay home for about 6 months (when my older boys were under 1 and 2) and occasionally stay home while my husband works. Yesterday just happened to be one of those days. Yesterday, I dropped the boys off to school, hit the bank, went grocery shopping (with an almost 2 year old who chose to walk rather than ride and was super well behaved and only picked out a couple extra things), bathed the dog (a German Shephard who is pretty good but still not an easy task), cleaned out the fridge, took a ton of garbage out (couch cough won't mention who didn't take it out last trash day), did 3 loads of laundry AND put it away, made the little man a hot lunch, got him to take a nap, read books, played and danced with him, watch a little Baby Story, picked the boys up from school, got almost all of Johnny's homework done, tracked someone down to confirm Cub Scouts was canceled and made dinner all before my husband came home! I'd give my right arm to be home everyday and be able to get my house under control again without the resentment of doing it on top of being gone over 8 hours a day. But since I wouldn't be able to pay for the house if I didn't go to work, I keep going.
So I'm not one to think I would prop my feet up all day or anything but I would LOVE to be a Stay at Home mom. I DETEST CLEANING and LAUNDRY and am NOT a fan of cooking, but it feels like I'm really doing something for my family when I do!

  2. I've often wondered how mom's that work outside the home get it all done, yk? I work from home and I have a difficult enough time trying to stay on top of it all. Kudos to you for the job you're doing!!

  3. I totally know how you feel! I hate cleaning too and it's really hard to do after working all day. The things we do for the love of our family! ;)

  4. I couldn't agree more, the last thing I want to do when I hit the door is "work" more. I would rather have quality time with my kids over cleaning!!

  6. For me, being a working mother has taught me some serious time management skills. With only 2-3 hours a day to get it all done, you learn to be efficient.
I am a SAHM on Friday's and that is one of my hardest days of the week.

Stopping by from Elizabeth's site :-)
