And You Thought RUNNING With Scissors Was Dangerous

There comes a point in every mom's life where she must come to terms with the things she is unable to do on her own.  For some of us that may involve some sort of DIY repairs, car repairs, or, if you're like me, doing any sort of cutting of hair with scissors!  The things is, I should have been well aware of this fact already.  Several years ago I attempted to trim my oldest's hair by myself.  This attempt led to a frantic call to my husband to stop on his way home from work for a good trimmer set with guards etc...the same trimmers that came to my rescue again just yesterday.

However, this time the amount of hair that was buzzed was VERY dramatic.  My littlest man has been refusing to cooperate for a haircut and while my injury hasn't left me completely helpless, it has left me with very little ability to physically control anyone so I hadn't even attempted to wrangle him inot a salon.  However the night before last after a bath I figured I could trim up the back just a little so MAYBE people would stop thinking he was a SHE.  But he gave me ONE snip before he began swatting and wiggling....in the end THIS is what I'd created...
And this photo honestly doesn't do justice to the train wreck that was his hair.  When I got home last night it was plainly obvious that I could not/would not leave his hair like this and take him out in public.  Since there was no time in our schedule for several days to attempt to take it in and get it corrected...PROFESSIONALLY.  I took matters into my own hands, literally, again.  I popped on a 3/4" guard and buzzed off all of my baby's BEAUTIFUL hair.  Of course he is still A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. but he looks soooo different!  He doesn't seem to notice at all and my husband likes it better.  But me, I'm morning it long locks this morning.  And I MIGHT just let them grow right back!!
For the record, this is what it looked like BEFORE Edward Scissorhands got a hold of him.

  3. I agree, he looks so grown up! The great thing about having 4 boys and no girls, is that I just need the #4 clip on the razor and I am good to go! I spent $20 on the kit that came with the DVD, and haven't had to pay for any of my boys' hair cuts in 3 years! For my youngest, I used to have to give him my cell phone or some game system to play while I cut his hair...good luck!
