Sassy Moms Go Red Event

This past Thursday I packed up a change of clothes as I headed off to work and at the end of the day I changed and headed off to the train station. I hopped the train to downtown Chicago to attend a Sassy Moms in the City Go Red event.

A great overview of the Sassy Moms in the City event I attend on Thursday from Chicagonista.com.

While I was on the train I used Twitter to find another blogger, Michelle, hitting the train station about the same time I was and she and I walked together to the other train station to meet another blogger, Melisa, to share a cab to the restaurant for the event.

Then I met up with my 'date' for the evening, Rita. (We both entered to win the same pair of tickets from Sassy Moms in the City, so when I won I asked her to join me.)  We all chatted a bit and then Rita and I headed upstairs in the gorgeous restaurant and signed up for mini manicures from Mario Tricoci and chair massages.  (You've probably seen these chair type massages in malls and I have to say I have always wanted to try it but have been afraid of what I'd look like while getting the massage.  But on this night I was all about stepping out of my normal worry and ceasing the opportunities.)

And while we waited, we chatted with many many other bloggers, some I had met before and many I hadn't met in person before.  The event wasn't an official bloggers event but there were many bloggers there.  In addition to mani's and massages, there were other pampering sessions available but we just looked on for the others.  And there were many vendors also.

The feel of the restaurant itself was pretty great.  Filled with the buzz of so many women out having a great time, it was a little loud of easy conversation.  But I didn't seem to notice that so much while I was getting a terrific 5 minute chair massage.

A fashion show was also part of the evening's activities.  I must admit that I am not usually a fashionista at ALL. But I did put some thought into getting ready for the event and after seeing the fashion show and getting my nails done for the first time in a VERY long time, I am remembering how much better I feel when I take the time to put some effort into looking my best.

To end the evening, we were given a fabulous swag bag.  The bag itself was awesome swag item from 14.  It's a high quality reversible tote that is super cute.  And it was full of great discounts for many of the vendors there and a few small items.

If you're local, don't forget to check out Sassy Moms In The City for future events!!

  2. How fun! I miss out on a lot of events because I'm all the way in Alaska so I get a bit jealous of bloggers in the lower 48. I'm so glad you had a great time! :)
