This week’s questions {week of 5/23/11}:
1. What were your childhood pets and their names?
When I was 5 I got a puppy for my birthday. We went to the local shelter and the ugliest dog I've EVER seen in my life had a litter of young puppies. Always a champion for the underdog, I felt in love with the runt of the litter. She was so much smaller than the rest that had they not been brought into the shelter (they were found under the porch of a empty home) she would probably not have survived. But she was the best dog ever. While her mom was about every color under the sun, she was pure white. Depending on how she was groomed, she could look like a Poodle, Shitzu or Maltese but she wasn't a purebred in the least. She had a great personality. And her name was Freeway. Yeah, I named her. At the time (1983) I was in love with the show Heart to Heart (which I'm pretty sure I'd be horrified my mom let me watch when I was 5 if could see it now). On that show they found a dog abandoned on the freeway and it sort of adopted them, and so they name it Freeway. So because I was addicted to this show, I swore if I got a dog, I would name it Freeway too. And I did. When you're five you don't really realize that the name you pick will likely have to be explained to people for the next 15 years of your life. Freeway stayed with my mom when I moved out and lived 12 or so very healthy years. the last few she had some troubles and when I was 20 she had to be put to sleep.
2. Favorite cartoon or comic as a kid?
I had lots of favorites but I think my all time favorite when I was little was Smurfs. I loved Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake and tons of others, but Smurfs were something I enjoyed for probably the longest. I am so excited about the movie!!
3. What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

3. What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
1. What is your favorite bagel flavor?
I actually prefer plain bagels. And I don't do cream cheese. I like my plain bagel toasted with peanut butter.
2. If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
I'd pay for some summer activities for the boys we are struggling to come up with the money for.
3. What is the last thing that you felt guilt about doing?
I feel guilty all the time. I felt guilty about going out the movie last weekend. I feel guilty when I go out to lunch during the week instead of remembering to bring something from home. I felt guilty yesterday because I didn't get through more laundry because my legs were killing me from all the trips up and down the stairs Saturday.
4. Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?
Well I LOVE ice cream. I wouldn't decline it either way, that's for sure. I really like hand dipped for flavors, like mint chocolate chip and strawberry cheesecake. But there is nothing like a soft serve vanilla cone on a hot day!!!
5. Are you allergic to anything?
Always love reading these and learning more about you! And I agree - any kind of ice cream is good ice cream ;)
ReplyDeleteHello! I can say for sure that I have never eaten moose lol.
ReplyDeleteFreeway sounds like a special pup, and I think the name is adorable!
Have a wonderful week - thanks for mingling!
I love DQ's soft serve. YUM!!!! I like the name Freeway for your little runt. I like plain bagels with butter. No flavor necessary. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the smurfs TOO!!! I wanted to be surfette.
ReplyDeleteI forever feel guilty too. It's so bad sometimes and causes me a lot of anxiety - especially over time and money. It doesn't feel like there's ever enough time of either of them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the fact that you adopted a puppy, and a runt for that matter. Big hugs to you for that!
ReplyDeleteYou make me feel so OLD that you were 5 in 1983, I graduated high school then and I hated the Smurfs.
Moose sausage sounds interesting. Way to impress the guys! =)
LOL @ Freeway, that's too cute. Girl, I loved some shows too that I now wonder why my parents let me watch (then there were others that they wouldn't let me watch that I don't get either).
ReplyDeleteLove plain bagels with peanut butter. Yum!
Carebears and Smurfs! Yes! How could I have forgotten about those?
ReplyDeleteHi, it's Just One Donna visiting for Meet Me on Monday. I am so with you on the vanilla cone on a hot day! Yum!
ReplyDeleteLove your lists. You made me smile. I loved the Care Bears, but I watched Looney Toons more than anything, and I still do.
ReplyDeleteSee, now.. Moose and deer and buffalo and stuff? No problem with that. I just CANNOT handle weird parts of the animals bodies, I think that's like where I draw the line.
ReplyDeleteMoose? Ick. Sounds illegal to me - or like it should be illegal. So happy to meet you. I am a new follower and a Monday Mingler too. Big cheers on it being Friday. Yeah!
