Choosing the Right Digital Camer

With so many models available, choosing the right digital camera can seem like a nightmare. To help you, we’ve highlighted some of the main points to consider.

Picture Quality
The quality of the pictures you take will be determined by megapixels. The higher the megapixels, the better quality picture. Most digital cameras are between 2 and 8 megapixels and as a rule, the more megapixels, the more expensive the camera will be. If you are planning on taking high resolution shots, it is worth investing as much as you can afford in a high megapixel model.

Battery
One of the major bugbears of most digital camera users is the life of the battery. After all, the last thing you want when you’ve found that perfect Kodak moment is the battery cutting out on you. Before you buy, it’s worth checking the manufacturer’s stated battery times (bear in mind, these will always be lower than the amount stated).
Another thing to check for is whether the camera comes with a rechargeable battery or not. Forking out for decent AA and AAA batteries can soon mount up.

Reviews
Thanks to the internet, it’s never been easier to find reviews of most digital cameras, so it is worth checking out what other people are saying about the model you are thinking of purchasing. There will always be one or more bad reviews, but if the consensus view is that the camera is a lemon, avoid it at all costs.

  1. These are wonderful tips! I agree with you about the reviews - it isn't always about the high MPs. Sometimes a camera can have high mega pixels but still take craptastic pictures LOL customers are really good at leaving in depth camera reviews on Amazon.com so that is my first suggestion - read reviews there :)

  2. I am saving for a nice camera with a lens. Right now I just use the camera on my iPhone, but I want something nice soon!

  3. It is definitely hard to choose a digital camera. I looked at a lot of reviews but I put my current camera on my Christmas wishlist. I don't regret it because I love it!
