I'm not even gonna lie to you. There have been days when I wake up and wonder what the heck I am doing. I'm working out to feel better and have experienced some pain like never before.
When I lost weight previously I used the Gazelle, it was low impact and I lost a good amount of weight (along with a low carb diet) in six months. I did NOT however get stronger.
This time I am working out 3 to 4 times a week in addition to get moving more in general. My gym work outs include cardio but also strength training and I still don't like cardio, I"m pretty sure I never will. But strength training is something I have really been enjoying. I have actually gained some strength and I know I am doing something right when I can really feel it.
If you work out regularly, what do you use when you are feeling a little extra sore?
I'm trying to fight through shin splints right now too and it SUCKS. All I can do is make sure to stretch really good before a walk or run and I've found that Icy Hot helps a lot, too (even though some people have told me that's a terrible idea LOL). You're doing an amazing job. Keep fighting through!
ReplyDeletewhy is is a terrible idea? I hadn't heard that. Thankfully my shin splints were only bad for about a week. They are still tender to the touch but I have just backed off my attempts to jog for awhile.
DeleteI like bio freeze but don't have any. Luckily, so far, I haven't had any major pain. Talk to me tomorrow, though :)
ReplyDeleteFirst, KUDOS to you and all the hard work you are putting in. I, too have recently added some major strength training into my workout and I am (painfully) loving the results as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get sore I will soak in a hot bath and take normal off brand Ibuprofen. It helps me a LOT. Other than that, I try to keep moving to not get "stiff" and remember that every time it hurts it is helping just a little bit more ;)
I would totally do a bath but I have a tub made for someone 4 feet tall so I have to settle for hot showers. Thankfully we have a decent hot water heater. I forgot to do Ibuprofen a lot of the time but it does help when I think of it.
