Things To Do In New York City #BlogHer12

Are you going to BlogHer this summer in New York City?  I am and I am so ready to check out the city.  I've never been so I've added some extra time to the trip to make sure I can do some site seeing.

Here are a few things I've found that look like fun!

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum: New York - (Save over 20% here)
Checking out the wax celebrities is one of the top things I really want to make time to get to.
Million and millions of people have flocked through the doors of Madame Tussauds London since they first opened over 200 years ago. Madame Tussauds opened its doors in the heart of Times Square in New York City in the year of 2000. There are many reasons for this enduring success, but at the heart of it all is good, old fashioned curiosity. Today visitors are sent on a unique journey through the realms of history, power and fame. The museum-style ropes and poles have gone so guests can truly get up close and personal with A-list celebrities, sports legends, political heavyweights and historical icons, reliving times, events and moments that made the world talk
 about them.

A Backstage Peek at Some of the Most Famous NBC Studios!

Since 1933, the NBC Studio Tour has offered a fantastic experience that takes you through the halls and into the studios of 30 Rockefeller Plaza  - the legendary headquarters of NBC's New York operations. During the behind-the-scenes tour, an official NBC page will introduce you to the studio and guide you through the world of the Peacock Network.
The one hour and ten minute tour includes visits to the NBC Sharp Globe Theater, where you will learn about NBC's history (which dates back to 1926) and the early days in radio, Broadcast Operations, the Make-up Room and an exclusive chance to see the studio sets where shows like Saturday Night Live, The Today Show and NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams are filmed.
You can even produce your very own news and weather program in the High Definition Mini-Control Studio! Who knows, maybe you’ll bump into Jimmy Fallon during the tour!
Blue Man Group New York
I saw Blue Man group in Chicago last fall and it is such a good time.  Take a group of friends and I promise you will have a BLAST at this show!

They play drums filled with paint. They hurl squishy objects through the air. They turn toilet paper into streamers. They’re the three silent, mysterious men dressed head to toe in blue who collectively make up the endlessly innovative theatrical experience that is Blue Man Group. Performed at an intimate Off-Broadway theatre in the East Village, this ever-popular show has become a true New York City institution. And it’s just been updated by its creators to include material that reflects the changes in the world (especially in technology) that have happened since this trio arrived on the scene years ago.
Stop by to see the marvels that are happening on stage with enormous ipads and the apps that come to life in hilarious ways. The classic material that audiences love is still there, but now there’s even more fun to be had at this dynamic show that combines multimedia, comedy and music into a total party atmosphere. A couple of tips: You just might get pulled into the action. And if you sit very close, you might get splattered upon. But no worries: The theatre is happy to provide those in the first few rows with ponchos, so you’ll leave just as clean and dry as you were when you arrived. Blue Man is especially great as a show for groups, because it’s tons of fun to share this kind of experience with your friends.
Bodies The Exhibition: The Most Amazing Anatomy Lesson You’ll Ever Experience!
I saw the Bodies exhibit in Chicago and it was truly amazing.
If you've ever wondered just how long your intestines are, or would like to see what a smoker's lungs really look like, the captivating displays at Bodies the Exhibit NYC are sure to amaze you. Featuring over 200 specimens - both whole bodies and individual organs, Bodies The Exhibition offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to better understand the complex systems inside the human body. As the exhibition's chief medical director, Dr. Roy Glover,  says: "seeing promotes understanding, and understanding promotes the most practical kind of body education possible. The body doesn't lie!"

Six of New York City’s Most Popular Attractions at a Great Price!
Want to do it ALL?
For just $75, you can see the Empire State Building, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Modern Art, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (or Circle Line Cruise) and Top of the Rock (or the Guggenheim Museum). Without the convenient CityPASS, seeing all six of those popular attractions would cost $146!

Although we have some amazing Broadway shows in Chicago, I have always wanted to see a Broadway show in New York.  Here are a few shows currently running in New York:

  6. Fun! I saw Blue Man Group in Boston a couple years ago - neat show. If I can make it this year, I definitely want to try for a Broadway show, but I fear I'll be too busy with blogging-related stuff to get to take in the sights, too! Can I stay awake for 72 hours straight just to fit it all in? :)
