I have spent my life apologizing. I apologize for apologizing. I apologize for other people.
But with each passing year I gain wisdom and strength.
This year I have taken steps to take back my life, my health and my happiness. I refuse to let others dictate how I live, and I will NOT apologize for that anymore.
It's not always easy! Thankfully I gain strength from my kids. I can stand up to so much more knowing I'm fighting not only for me but for them as well. I want them to learn that woman are strong, capable equals and that they should never view them as anything else. That means I need to live that. I NEED to be unapologetically strong. I NEED to stand up for what I believe in. I need to stop worrying about what others think. And honestly, sometimes I need to stop worrying about what other people feel. I know this can sound cold and thoughtless but I won't sacrifice my own feelings for the sake of others. There are things I need in life and I won't keep putting those things on the back burner in hopes of keeping others happy.
It's not always easy and sometimes it brings on confrontation. I don't know about you but I don't do confrontation well. I recently had to confront someone very close to me. I was almost sure I was going to vomit right then and there. When it was done, I was shakey and even a little sweaty but after my heart and stomach calmed down I felt...relief. I was honest about my thoughts and feelings and that's all I can be responsible for. I can't control how others react or feel. But no more apologizing!
