Dear first-grade journal,
Hooray, hooray! TheatreworksUSA is making a brand-new musical (that is a
play all jumbled together with singing and dancing, I believe). And what do you
know! It's all about me, Junie B. Jones! (The B stands for Beatrice, only I do
not like Beatrice. I just like B and that's all.)This is the bestest musical ever, I tell you! It's got loads of funny songs, and it's based on a bunch of books this lady, Barbara Park, wrote about me and the things I do in first grade.
Junie B., First Grader (at Last!) In first grade, I meet new friends (like Herb and José, but not that tattle-tale May). But my new teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks I might need glasses!
Junie B., Boss of Lunch I get to help my friend, the cafeteria lady! And I get to wear a real actual hair net too! Who knows.... Maybe someday I'll be the boss of the whole lunch operation!
Junie B., One-Man Band The whole entire first grade is having a kickball
tournament! Only, when I practice my kicking, I stub my piggy toe so badly I
can't play. But my friend Sheldon can't play either, so maybe we can do a
half-time show instead!
Whew! I'm glad I can write everything down in my Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal! And you know what? I think I might like first grade after all!
Love, (but not the mushy kind)
Junie B.Target is the National Tour Sponsor of this production.
And from Timmy:
My field trip was very cool! May and Junie B. Jones were very funny! The story is named Top Secret Personal Bees Wax. My favorite part was when May fell by the door & then she scooted behind the big giant book. And Junie B kicked the watering can that looks like a cow & hurt her pinky toe. And Lucille didn't want to be Junie's friend and she wanted to be two other girls friend. She only wanted to be their friend because their name rhymed with her name. I think all kids should go see it.
I have been lucky enough to be able to go along on a few field trips for the boys. I always have to take off work to do it. I wish I could go on all of them but I have to pick and choose. They don't always approve my time off and it doesn't always work. It stinks being at the mercy of a job.
ReplyDelete(((Lisa))) It's hard to not feel guilty..it's just a part of motherhood. I'm glad he had such a great time! (and thanks for the sweet comment on my blog...I'm so thankful for my online friends!!)
ReplyDeleteAh yes...the guilty feelings! LOL!! Since I have tons of kids, I cant go on all their field trips, so...yep...know the feeling all to well! I always packed a little note in the lunch of the one that is on the field trip saying I wish I was with you, have fun.
ReplyDeleteOh..the Junie B books...LOVE THEM!
Aww... know what you mean. I hate that mommy guilt that comes with the decision to work. I'm only away for 15 of my kiddo's awake hours every week, but I sure feel every one of them.
ReplyDeleteSounds like he had a blast, so don't beat yourself up about it. Maybe just try to plan something special for you two! :)
