Crazy Coupon Lady

For awhile now I've used the term "Crazy Coupon Lady" when referring to a friend of mine. As in, yeah she's one of those "Crazy Coupon Ladies." It was meant with complete love and respect of course. And maybe, just maybe a little envy.
I followed her blog and would see the great deals she snagged and I'd think to myself, I wish I had the time to do that. A couple times I did get a few deals. At one time I'd stocked up witha bout 15 things of chapstick and shaving cream that was "free" after register rewards at Walgreens. But for the most part I didn't see how I had time to do.
But the more I've read the more I've decided maybe I could it at least a little more and help our budget some. So I recently asked my friends who don't use their Sunday coupon inserts to save them for me, and then subscribed to the newspaper (I now get two copies delivered).
And this week was the first time I've done some serious bargain shopping. I got a great deal on Melatonin, something we used dialy at our house, at Walgreen's thanks to a BOGO deal and my coupon stash. And then I went to Walmart. I happened to find a TON of clearance clothes the boys could use and I bought some other bigger ticket items so I DID spend just over $200. BUT when I handed my coupon stack over...I felt just like a crazy coupon lady. But everyone of them worked (an issue I'd struggled with before) and I saved FOURTY DOLLARS! I did buy myself some makeup which I honestly was in true need of. (They say you should replace mascara every 6months because of bacteria and mine is probably four YEARS old.) But everything else I bought was something I would have bought anyway. And if it wasn't on sale I didn't buy it. I refiled quite a few of my coupons, holding them for a better time. But I was pretty proud of the deals I did get.
I'm not quite ready to bestow the official Crazy Coupon Lady title on myself yet. I still have lots to learn. But I just wanted to share that it really is possible to save money if you're willing to learn.
Check out my friend, Jen's blog to get started.

  1. Good for you! I've been couponing for about a year now and can't even begin to tell you how much money I've saved. It feels so good. Keep it up! :)
