Who do you think you are?

The other night I got an email that I thought was an internet forward as I opened it.  Then I realized it was actually a condescending, judgmental email intended to shame me into action.

On top of that, it was filled with some serious inaccuracies about the relationships of the people involved the situation of which I was supposed to be shamed into repairing.

This email was also from a person I am not fond of and have pretty much no respect for to begin with.

I could feel my temperature rise as I stewed on this email for awhile before sharing it with my husband.  When I did, he was equally as offended by this email.  That night (it was midnight at this point) I decided to simply save the email and sleep on it.

The next day I shared the email with a close friend who also knows the individual who wrote it.  She was as upset, maybe even more, than I was at it.  Still I wasn't sure which of my options in handling it I would choice.  I could ignore it.  I could reply thank you for your concern but this is a personal family matter.  I could fully explain myself and the situation and correct his inaccuracies.  Or I could reply in am equally condescending trite tone as the email in which I received.

I'm pretty sure this person somehow thinks this email will pressure me to be the bigger person and just get over my issues.  But I have spent a LOT of time thinking about my issues and feel that I really am doing the right thing for myself and to be quite honest I'm DONE being the bigger person.  But I find it quite interesting that the sender piles on the guilt with something much larger than a shovel, but in conclusion offers no actual assistance.

I seriously don't understand some people.  If you don't know the full story who the h#!! do you think you are to get involved!?!?!?  And really, think about taking that plank out of YOUR eye before you try to go digging for the splinter in mine!

ps. I have yet to respond...but thinking I WILL, just not sure how yet.

  1. There are so many people in this world who are quick to judge. When people do this to me, I always remind myself that the Lord knows me personally and my situation, and that those people will be judged someday for their thoughts and actions against me. Good luck figuring out how to respond (that will be tough thinking of exactly what to say to someone like that)!

  2. So sorry you are going through this! It is annoying when people looking in from the outside think they know all the answers and who is to blame. I am going through some family drama right now, and I'm surprised I haven't received a similar email like this from certain individuals! I totally hear you on being sick of the bigger person. ((hugs)) and hope that however you decide to respond, you'll eventually come to peace with all of this.

  3. I absolutely love when people pass judgement on a situation and tell me what to do. LOVE IT...maybe I need to meet this person :)

Good luck - and have a wonderful 4th of July!

  4. Oh, how I hate things like this. If someone doesn't know the whole story, they should mind their own business...and actually, even if they somehow do know the whole story- unless the actually are involved, they should still butt out!
