CHICAGO (October 27, 2010) – The 2010–2011 National Tour of Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise is coming to the Bank of America Theatre for 3 performances only, December 3-4, 2010. Tickets for Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise, the groundbreaking musical event that blends classical music with classic rock and breathes new life into George Fredrick Handel’s most performed oratorio, will go on sale November 5, 2010 at 10 AM. Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise features stunning visual effects, thrilling songs, an orchestra, rock band, Broadway soloists and specially selected adult and children’s choirs from Chicago!

Broadway veteran Mike Eldred will star as The Tenor, with Ramona Keller as The Woman and Jeremiah James as The Baritone. The local choirs, to be announced at a later date, will perform on stage at the Bank of America Theatre with the cast of Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise. This unique opportunity will provide the choirs with the opportunity to gain professional theatre experience and discover what it’s like to be part of a nationally touring company. They will also have the opportunity to perform one of the newest interpretations of the most celebrated oratorio in the world, in front of their own family and friends.

The New York Times describes Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise and the reinterpretation of the most famous selection from the Oratorio “Hallelujah”, by saying it, “…combines Handel and Sunset Strip-metal in one slick, efficient mash.”  

Having been performed annually for 240 years throughout the world the traditional composition has compelled its admirers to listen to and attend live performances many times throughout the year and now Handel’s Messiah Rocks can be enjoyed at home both on CD and DVD available on Sony Integrity Records.  Some of the selections included are Overture, Comfort Ye, He’ll Come in Glory, He is Fire, Hallelujah and more.

Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise was adapted by Jason Howland and libretto adapted by Dani Davis is based on the original oratorio by George Frederick Handel with libretto by Charles Jennens. It is produced by NETworks Presentations, LLC and directed by Dani Davis.

Individual tickets for Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise are $40 - $75 and go on sale November 5.  A select number of premium seats are also available.
