We all know how hard potty training can be (and if it wasn't for you, you should probably just nod and agree anyway, cuz jealous moms are a vicious group). After successfully potty training two difficult boys, I have to admit I have been in NO hurry to push number three. Yes, we'd LOVE to be done with potty training. But with our rushed crazy schedule, the idea of trying to just throw my three year old in some big boy underoos is not high on my list. Traveling even short distances is nearly impossible with a newly training little one. With my older boys Pull-Ups were a life saver when we were on the go. We treated them as underwear and encouraged them to hold it and tell us when they had to go but if it came down to it an accident happened, it was so much easier to deal with.
As they became fully day trained, we continued to use Pull-Ups Training Pants at night when they began to protest diapers because they weren't 'babies' anymore. I know some moms swear that using disposable training pants will prolong the training process and I'm suppose it might for some. But for us, they made my life much easier.
And now Pull-Ups and Target are taking another step they are hoping will make your life even easier by encouraging your potty training child with free Big Kid Calls. Visit one of these sites bigkidcalls.com or bigkids.mobi (mobile) to reward your child for using the potty with a congratulatory call from a Disney Character. (You can listen to the call options from the site or schedule a call.) There are three calls to fit every stage of potty training with different characters for boys (Cars) and girls (Cinderella).
After I picked up a package of Pull-Ups from Target I shared the Big Kid Calls with Bryan. Thankfully the first option works for kids who are just starting and haven't necessarily had big success yet. While it DID get him excited, it didn't lead to immediate results. But it gives me something to remind him of when he resists going into the bathroom to 'try.' And hopefully we'll get to get another character call sooner rather than later.
If you need a little help in the training department, don't feel bad even the third time doesn't seem to be a charm for me. Pull-Ups and Huggies have to some tips for you...just click on the graphic below.
To celebrate this great new program from Pull-Ups and Target, they are offering one $25 Target gift card for one of my readers to buy Pull-Ups.

Cheerios as targets really does work. I would also say, don't push it too soon. Wait until your child is ready.

Potty training tip is to let your child decide when they are ready. If you push them it will be much harder.

When my daughter was potty training, I took some advice that was given to me. Plan to stay home for a day or two. During thiss time, I had my daughter wear big girl underwear and had her sit on the pot every 1/2 hour. Some times she went right away and sometimes we would read a book with nothing and went on to the next 1/2 hour. Best advice I ever listened to because we had no major issues. But! Every child is different and that needs to be remembered.
