Ever wonder what grapes, noisemakers, black eyed peas (and not the music group the food) wearing red, eating pork or kissing at midnight really meant? Check out Seven New Year's Eve Superstitions from Celebrations.com.

 Curious about the answers to these New Year's Eve trivia questions? Find them here!

The New Year has not always been celebrated on January 1.
When did the original celebration take place?

 If you are like me, you might not actually know the words to Auld Lang Syne (actually I didn't even have a clue what the actual name/spelling was let along the lyrics).  So here's some help for you!

Auld Lang Syne
Robert Burns

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pou'd the gowans fine;
we've wander'd mony a weary foot
Sin' auld lang syne

We two hae paidled i' the burn,
Frae mornin' sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne

And here's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

What will YOU be doing to ring in 2012?

  1. Happy New Year! We went to bed on time. It was a good call. Matthew was up at 1:30am. It was funny to see the neighbors still had their lights on at that time of night though.
