Get Wild for National Park and Recreation Month this July!

As the mom of three very active boys, I can't imagine NOT using our local parks.  From May through July we practically live at the ball fields of our local parks for baseball and T Ball.  This year I am especially grateful for the fabulous parks we have.  So many of the baseball fields we're at this year also have a nice playground near them and this has really helped with the complaining about having to sit through multiple ball games a week from those who aren't playing.  As soon as they hear we're going to the park with the playground, the arguing stops!  And then they get to run around and play for two hours instead of making myself crazy trying to get them to sit quietly and watch. Best of all, we're ALL exhausted at the end of the evening and after washing off a layer or two of dirt, fall happily into bed.

Does YOUR family take advantage of the wonderful resources your local parks offer?
If not, now is the time to change that....here are just a few reasons you really should:

As I have working hard to lose weight this year, it is especially important to me to be sure my kids stay active and healthy.  I try hard to get my kids out of the house whenever we can.  We just make sure to stay hydrated and keep sunscreen on hand all the time.  We love to just call up some friends and meet up at the local park to play or have a picnic.

Are you ready to get out and enjoy your local parks?
Then join me in taking the Park and Rec Month 2012 Pledge:
  •  Pledge to GET WILD in your local park and rec areas this July! Get some activity, connect with nature, family, and friends, or discover new ways to have fun right in your community! Heading out to any official park, recreation area/facility, hiking or biking trail, playground, swimming pool, or natural area counts!
Visit NRPA online here to take the pledge. You can also find a calendar of local events happening across the country and information on the Get Wild Geocaching Contest. We haven't tried Geocaching yet but have several friends who do and love it.  Maybe we'll take advantage of the contest and give it a try in July!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of National Recreation and Park Association and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate
