I know some of my friends already have kids back in school, but we have 2 weeks until my husband and youngest off spring will not know what to do with themselves for 7 hours a day.
I don't know about you but even though I'm out of the house the whole time they're gone, back to school=back to schedules for me. I'm starting to think morning routines, lunches and home work.
I'd love to say that I send my kids off to school with a belly full from a well rounded homemade meal. Reality is more like cereal, sometimes even in a baggie ON THE WAY to school. But I've never seen cereal 'on the go' done quite like Honesy Kix. I recently received a package from Honey Kix that included the things pictures below. There's a cereal storage container which I'm hoping will allow the kids to actually pour cereal on their own because them pouring from the box has been a MESS! There's also a cute bowl and a honey jar. (We're keeping a close eye on the honey pot to make sure Pooh doesn't try to steal it.) But then there's a travel cereal container. It has a compartment to put your dry cereal in. Then a gel surrounded compartment to hold your milk and keep it cold. And last but not least was a box of Honey Kix! (Technically a voucher for a free box.)
Honey Kix cereal, which has all the goodness of Kix® cereal but now with a touch of honey! Honey Kix is a good source of fiber, calcium and vitamin D, contains 16 grams of whole grain per serving (at least 48 grams recommended daily) and has no artificial flavors or preservatives. A perfect balance of taste and nutrition through simple ingredients, which both moms and kids can agree on!
I won't lie, I am not strict on the type of cereal we buy. We eat some stuff that our Dr said has less nutritional value than the box it came in. That DOES make me feel a bit guilty though, so it's nice when something good is also good for them.
As for it being good, the boys polished off the box in 2 days.

Hmmmm...simplifying our morning routine...
ReplyDeleteWe have the benefit of only one in school so far and school not starting until 9:00, so there really is plenty of time for her to get up and ready. But we do make sure that all homework is done the night before, and that her backpack is packed and ready to go the night before. And we try (although not always successfully) to have her outfit picked out the night before too.
We have everything set up the night before, so that really helps!
ReplyDeleteI always lay out their clothes the night before. My son is able to wake up and put his clothes on before evening coming downstairs.

ReplyDeleteWe also lay out clothes the night before, and if it's a school day (we're only in preschool at this point), we have our backpacks packed and by the door the night before, too.

I like to do as much as I can the night before. I pack what I can of the lunches the night before (I like to make the sandwiches in the morning), make sure all backpacks are packed the night before, and I've always had my children leave their back packs in the same spot near the door so no one would be running around looking for anything when it was time to leave.

ReplyDeleteWe set out clothes and put snacks in the backpacks the night before- it makes getting ready in the morning a breeze. No rush, no fuss :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the chance to win- my boys would love this set!
I'm following you :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids love Kix - thanks for your upbeat attitude from one working mom to another!
ReplyDeleteWe keep a desk organizer with 3 compartments, one section is for things to go back to school, one is for homework that needs to go back on a later date, and the last is important info for us to keep. She knows to check for papers to go back that day, and knows to put her stuff there so it doesn't get lost!

ReplyDeleteWe make sure everything that needs signed or completed is put back in the backpacks. The backpacks go by the front door with the shoes.

Routine Routine Routine. We are all up at a certain time, shower times are scheduled morning and night before, Clothes picked out night before, money for lunch laid out night before. Breakfast (cereal here too - or cereal bars) with juice, if all goes well everyone is out the door between 5:45 and 6:15am! Whew!
